Job Description

Our client, a retail business located along Kimathi Street in Nairobi CBD, is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Accountant to join their team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business, maintaining accurate accounting records, handling financial transactions and assisting with financial reporting and reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting and financial records.
  • Record daily sales, purchases, expenses and other financial transactions.
  • Prepare invoices, receipts, payment records and other accounting documentation.
  • Perform daily and periodic cash and bank reconciliations.
  • Monitor accounts payable and receivable.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports and management accounts.
  • Maintain proper filing and documentation of financial records.
  • Support stock and inventory reconciliation where required.
  • Assist with statutory accounting and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor and reconcile retail sales and cash transactions.
  • Provide general accounting and administrative support as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • 1–2 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Previous experience in a retail environment will be an added advantage.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and financial record keeping.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
